Climate

Thailand's climate is tropical and high in both temperature and humidity. Most people find it pleasant. The average temperature is about 30 degrees Celsius, or 86 degrees Fahrenheit.
You will experience "summer temperatures" here year round, but the weather in Koh Samui is normally divided into three seasons:

  • The dry season: December - February
In the dry season there is not much rain, and it will get warmer and warmer. There might be a refreshing breeze from time to time. A great season for holiday on the island. The water also gets more and more clear in this season.

  • The hot season: March - August
The weather is still dry and it is usually very sunny and hot. In May it might rain a little more. This is a great period to visit the island if you don't mind temperatures ranging from 28-38 degrees Celsius at daytime.

  • Monsoon or rain season: September - November
It's still hot and usually the monsoon period also has many sunny days. On some days you might find yourself in a refreshing monsoon shower for a moment. The rain showers are often short but will get longer up to November. In November usually most rain falls and it might even rain for days in a row.
